A picture of one of the buildings in downtown Warsaw at Three Crosses Square, along the city's Royal Route. Located across the street intersection from this building is the neo-classical St. Alexander's Church. I could not help but gaze in amazement and awe at the beautiful architecture of the buildings in the city - a city that was almost completely obliterated by the Nazis during World War 2. The church along with the other structures in the square were sadly destroyed during the 1944 Warsaw Uprising.
A key point to note is how the historic buildings were rebuilt and restored to their original appearances, and just as impressive, this was all done in just a matter of years - indeed, a testament to the resilience, determination and ingenuity of the Polish people even in the face of extreme adversity. Today, Warsaw is a vibrant and thriving city, and is now one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe.
